The World Government Police Department, or WGPD, is the chief law-enforcement agency of the World Government of Earth. As such, it is a successor to Interpol, the International Criminal Police Organisation, and works hand-in-hand with law-enforcement agencies like the Spectrum Police.
Organised into various "precincts," one for every recognised nation on Earth, it has an Inspections Commander of Detectives in charge of each "precinct," all of whom report to a Supreme Commissioner whom the World President appoints by and with the advice and consent of the World Congress. Captain Ochre of the Spectrum Organisation, once the Inspections Commander of Detectives for the United States "Precinct" of the WGPD, turned down the post of Supreme Commissioner to join Spectrum.
